A very Handy Camera
Don't expect to get DSLR photos out of this camera. Read the manual and learn how to use your settings. This camera does poorly in poor light and at high ISO's you get a lot of noise.
That said, this camera is a breeze to stick in your pocket. It is the second Optio I've owned. The first one was dropped while I was riding and got stepped on by a mule. The camera still worked but the LCD had been cracked. It is a tough camera that will take what you give it.
It does work under water! Pros: Small enough to carry in your pocket. Takes great macros and super macros in good daylight. Takes decent landscape shots. The video quality is fair compared to other pocket cameras...but the sound is not that great. I don't find that an issue as I usually dub over my videos. You can use this camera for hiking in the rain and have no fear of ruining it!
Cons: In very cold weather the battery doesn't last long. I carry a second one. In poor light the photos are noisy and off color.
I would recommend this to anyone who can get around some of the issues this camera has. It is a perfect pocket camera for an active outdoor person who can get the best out of any pocket camera.

A pleasant surprise
I bought this camera thinking I was getting a decent value for my money. I purchased it, based on reviews, thinking that I was making a sacrifice in picture quality, especially in low light settings. I am very pleased that this camera has a lot more versatility than I originally expected. If left on the default settings, yes, the pictures come out a bit noisy in low light, but if the ISO is dropped down and the camera is placed steadily to avoid blur during a longer exposure time, it does well. I prefer flash-free shots when I can get them, and I have even taken some shots that I really like, indoors and flash-free with this little camera. Another thing to keep in mind that I've noticed is sometimes a shot looks a lot noisier on the little built-in LCD screen than it will on the computer, so that isn't always a good judge! I have not printed any images yet, so I'm not sure how the quality will be there. There are also a lot of fun built-in editing tools, like image filters, red-eye removal, and some silly frames (my 5-year-old thinks these are hilarious). So even when I get a shot that is so-so, I find I can doctor it just a little using the built-in filters and end up with an image that I love.
Another thing folks mentioned was battery life, but I am getting more than a day of shooting (and that is with me experimenting, so I've been taking lots and lots of pictures), and using the camera for picture editing (another really cool feature). To me that's plenty of use on a battery, but I suppose it is a personal preference thing. I do have a back-up, which makes life easier, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary.
Sure, it is no SLR, but I think it performs great considering a)the cost, b)the compact design, and c)the fact the it is marketed as a weather resistant camera, not necessarily as a quality camera. This is by far the best point and shoot camera I've ever owned, and I think it will do a great job as our 'easy' camera when our SLR is inconvenient to use.
Overall: I feel that I got a great value with this camera! Among all the weather resistant cameras out there, I am very glad I chose this one.
PROS: Waterproof works great, Decent battery life, Lots of options to operate manually makes it possible to get decent image quality, Literally fits in my pocket, My daughter can use it and I don't worry about it breaking, Built-in editing, etc...
CONS: Lots of menus to go through to get the settings that work...must practice with it before going out to take serious pictures

Great All-Around All-Condition Camera
This camera has been a great purchase for me. As a swimmer, I spend a lot of time around water (pools, lakes, rivers, etc.) and having a camera that I can take in the water with me is a huge positive. It is easy to use, very portable, and takes great pictures. I would recommend this camera to anyone.

SKIP IT OR BE DISAPPOINTED
I got this after doing a ton of research on it through youtube and watching reviews. I took a few outside pics on a bright sunny day which came out beautiful (after taking about 10, 4 came out really nice). Pictures are extremely grainy. I called Pentax and they told me to change the ISO setting for low light which still did not help. I was originally going to Get the Stylus Tough waterproof camera but I heard this was better and apparently that one isn't too great either. Pictures are grainy no matter what setting. Not easy to use since you constantly have to fiddle around with settings and my old camera I got 3 years ago was much better and easier to use. If you want a waterproof digital camera for outdoor use, get the Kodak Play sport instead. I got that after getting this one and I absolutely love it. Shoots real HD, takes great pics (but has no flash for low light) and I absolutely love it. I ended up selling this one on craigslist for $100

awesome camera
The camera takes great pictures as long as you have it on the right settings. The battery lasts for a long time which is a major plus for trips. I spent a week in Panama and only charged it once toward the end of the week. The internal zoom works great. The only problem I've had is that sometimes after it's been on for a while it freezes up so i have to pop out the battery to turn it off and on again.

Nice compact camera
I really like it. It's quite small and light. Picture quality is is normal inside the building but really nice outside. I can't compare it with Canon or Sony (high quality, but heavy and expensive cameras).... But if you're looking for small, slim, 10 MP camera for less than 200$ (it's really waterproof)... I can't suggest anything else.

Question.
I have a question about the camera... I am considering buying it. Does the camera support the video Windows Media Files? I make videos and it's important for the camera to match the files of Windows, which is .AVI. Thanks!

Amazing value
Amazing value. Family currently uses four other cameras, three Kodaks (one a point and shoot) and a Canon. Bought this as a take along for outdoor activities, have no complaints about portability, durability or picture quality. Nearest comparable camera was over twice the price.

Pretty sweet!
i got this camera a couple of months ago and i love it! the only issue i have with it it that it can only go 5 feet underwater which is pretty wimpy! i love all of the different settings programed on the camera. also the video recourding lasts only about 7-10 seconds. i would recommend this camera to someone looking to take pictures just in a swimming pool, not to a diver who would like to take deep underwater pictures.

Great Camera!
This camera is truely amazing. For the price it is great! We went on a 7 day cruise and I took it snorkling for hours everyday. It took amazing pictures, was waterproof as stated and it is so small and portable. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone!

PENTAX 17916 10.0 Megapixel Optio E90 Digital Camera (Wine Red)
Customer Review :
Great choice
I got this for my daughters graduation gift. She wanted a $300 touch screen camera but it wasn't in the budget. She loves this one. The low light performance is good and it is great for the "extended arm self portrait." She took it on her senior trip (yes, I gave it to her early) and she took over 1000 photo's with it with better than average results. She also really likes the panoramic mode. Overall it's a good choice for a casual camera.

So far so good..
I bought this camera because it was inexpensive but still had most of the features I was looking for in a camera. It uses 2 AA batteries, but they do last quite a while. Overall, the camera is great. It takes great pictures and has a lot of options for settings. My favorite is a panoramic feature which I have had a little difficulty with but haven't read about it. It also comes with a CD which has great photoshopping features. The only problem I have noticed so far is the video capture. It does not take a good video by any means, the voice is okay but when playing videos back, it's extremely delayed and broken. So if you are looking for a camera for mostly video purposes, this camera isn't for you! Other than that, it's totally worth the price!

PENTAX 17911 10.0 Megapixel Optio E90 Digital Camera (Black)
Customer Review :
Pentax e90 camera
Positives: Very well built and can handle heavy use. Controls are well placed and the LCD display of the options are logical and easy to follow. Battery life is good and since it uses AA batteries, you do not depend on proprietary battery. Takes good pictures and the color reproduction is very good. Bundled with the camera is Arcsoft Media Impression 2.0 which is very good value for the money. While it is not thin, it would fit into the shirt pocket and hence is ideal while traveling or hiking.
Negatives: The pictures are not very sharp even with 10MP resolution, even though you can get good 8x11 enlargements. Pentax is known for its excellent lenses and I wish the lens is of better quality even if the cost is marginally higher. Whenever the camera is on, the lens is open. When you want to just review the pictures, I wish you had an option not to open the lens as it would protect lens. The main user manual is in the bundled CD. I wish it is available to download from Pentax website. Some kind of cover over the LCD display is desirable since it would protect the LCD. In a bright outdoor the LCD display is difficult to see. A shade or something like it would help. A direct viewfinder is missing. It would help to frame picture in bright lights and also keep the camera steady in picture taking. Manufacturers such as Canon provide viewfinder for this purpose.
Overall: I would highly recommend as an entry level camera where excellent sharpness is not an issue as it is a very good value for the money.

Questions & Answers
Question : Does the camera manufacturer PENTAX make good quality digital cameras?
Does the camera manufacturer PENTAX make good quality digital cameras compared to Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Casio etc?
Answer:
Pentax is a camera/imaging company first, just like Nikon, Canon, Olympus and Leica. Sony, Panasonic and Casio are consumer electronic companies and make cameras along with other items. Pentax quality is right there with the best of them and far better than companies like Casio. Sony and Panasonic do make good cameras, especially now that Sony has taken over the Konika Minolta camera business. Pentax is definitely a good, solid choice.

Question : Pentax digital camera not connecting to Vista computer to upload pictures?
I've been trying to fix my dad's computer and camera problem. He has a Pentax digital camera and when we connect it to his computer with the USB cable nothing happens... usually when a camera is connected it will prompt something to appear on the screen and then you can upload photos from the camera, but in this case nothing happens. I've made sure the camera is ON and in playback mode. The USB cable seems to be OK. Also, tried different USB ports on the computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Question : Would a Pentax digital Camera be compatible with a FireWire usb cable?
Would the retractable firewire cable be able to hook into the camera?I need a usb connector cord for my camera-to-pc
Answer:
No ... firewire is a different protocol all togetherThere are only a few older DSLR's that have firewire connections. Why do you want to connect the camera to your computer? Those of us who have been using digital cameras have long ago stopped doing that method of image transfer and use card readers.instead.

Question : Does anyone know anything about a Pentax Digital Camera?
Is it a descent camera or would I be wasting my money on a crappy camera? It is a Pentax E10. I dont know much about digital cameras so I would appreciate any help! Even if it is just an opinon!
Answer:
Comcast Shopping does not rate this camera very highly. The users seem to really like the Pentac M10, which does not cost too much more than the E10.I admit that there are only 4 reviews for the M10 and 3 for the E10, but the users had some really nasty things to say about the E10.
